Right now, you’re facing a problem. You’re in a situation that you can’t control and you want to have faith that it will work out for your good. You’ve told your friends about it, complained to your family and even updated your status to share your concerns with the social media world. You don’t bother to pray about it because God doesn’t need to be worried with your petty issues, especially when other people have much bigger problems than you. Plus, He already knows your heart and your needs, so you shouldn’t have to tell Him.
These are the types of negative thoughts I have battled with. My problems aren’t big enough. God knows my heart. I don’t want to bother Him with my issues, again. I don’t want to seem ungrateful… I constantly have to remind myself that I can and I should give it all to God, no matter how great or small my problem is. We are told to do so over and over again:
“Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” Psalm 55:22
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
He never said, “If your problem isn’t that big, deal with it yourself”. So why would we think that we don’t have to pray about our situations? How can we feel at ease sharing our problems with everyone, but Him? It’s true that God knows all, but what if He sees you with your problem and is just patiently waiting on you to bring it to Him? It could be just that easy. God wants us to seek him, not the other way around, and that situation that you’re in just might bring you closer to Him than ever before.
God has authority over all things. So before you call your bestie, vent on Facebook or even worse, try to figure it out on your own, tell God all about what you’re up against. That’s how I found my peace and that’s where you’ll receive yours.
I’m so glad to be reminded of this. It makes so much sense to the believer, yet, we tend to talk about our problems to everyone before bending our knee to God. Bringing our burdens, our cares, and most of all, our thanksgiving to God is an act of obedience and true worship. Thanks girl for sharing this! I needed this today.
I love all of your post Jamie!
