Love is in the air! The supermarket shelves are stocked with heart shaped candies and giant teddy bears that exclaim, “Be Mine!” If Cupid hasn’t fired at you yet, with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, you’re bound to be struck by the arrow of love sooner or later. This means that everyone must be “booed up” or at least find a special someone to spend the holiday with, right? Wrong! Who says February 14th is only for couples? It’s unfair to put such an enormous amount of pressure on single people to seek a mate just to avoid spending the most romantic holiday of the year alone. This year will be my first Valentine’s Day as a single woman in 7 years and I can guarantee you won’t catch me at home eating my broken heart away with a tub of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. Instead of falling into that lonely trap and feeding into the insecurities of being single, take time to show yourself some love this Valentine’s Day. Buy your own flowers and candy. Take yourself out and ladies, by all means, treat yourself to Mr. Christian Grey (Fifty Shades of Grey will be in theaters). This Valentine’s Day, remember, self-love is the best love.
