I loved how the perm rods made my hair look, but I was less than optimistic about the style lasting more than a day (no style ever does in mixed girls’ hair). So, in my attempt to preserve my curls, I did what most curly girls advise. I put a satin bonnet over my curls while I slept and when I woke up in the morning, I looked like Simba! My curls were a hot frizzy mess and to make matters worse, I didn’t have time to do much to it before work so I was forced to have a bad hair day. Those suck!
I couldn’t wait to get home and wash the mess out of my hair, but I noticed that the majority of my ringlets from the perm rods were still in tact, they were just really, really frizzy. So with a little water, curl creme and a prayer, I was able to get rid of the frizz while maintaining a lot of the curl definition from the perm rods. It’s not quite the same style as the day before, but it turned out pretty and it looked a heck of a lot better that it did when I woke up that morning.
Here’s what I did:
Step 1: I parted a medium section of my hair with my fingers.
Step 2: I dampened (not fully wet) my hair and ran a wide tooth comb through it.
Step 3: I applied TRESemme Flawless Curls Curl Hydration Lotion Creme to each section.
I hope this information is helpful, especially for my mixed girls with curls that have a mind of their own.
P.S. Check out my soror, Tanee! She tried the perm rods on her natural hair and rocked it!

Jamie, if you use lottabody setting lotion when you roll your hair with perm rods the curls will hold a lot longer. And of course continue to use the sleep cap. Keep experimenting.
