You snap a selfie on your cell phone and proceed to share with Instagram. Now comes the question, “To filter or not to filter?” We’re all guilty of it. Personally, I think the Valencia filter flatters my skin tone best, but that’s neither here nor there. The point is that people seem to be using more than just filters these days. Some of us are transforming our snapshots so much that we’re barely recognizable and we don’t have to be Photoshop experts to do it.
Take a look at the photo of me above. The left is natural me, with a little lipstick I tried on in Sephora. The right is me with a bunch of alterations made on the Perfect365 app for Android. You can tell I’ve had a facelift, some slimming, contouring on my nose, and full on makeup complete with lash extentions. Although this app is a fun way to try a makeover, it can be dangerous if it’s used with the wrong intentions.
Seriously, how many times have you seen someone you follow on Instagram in person and thought to yourself, “They look much better in their pictures.” Well, don’t let this be you and beware of those who utilize these type of apps to catfish you.
